With the controversial refereeing of the Santa Clara-Sporting match in the Azores still fresh in the fans' memory, the refereeing team led by João Pinheiro entered the field and proceeded with the initial warm-up, enduring loud boos from some Porto supporters who were, it is important to note, right behind the access tunnel to the locker rooms of the Alverca Sports Complex.

The boos returned after the final whistle when the refereeing team headed to the locker room. Among them, insults could also be heard coming from the stands where the Porto supporters were. "Pinheiro, listen, you're a son of a b…," could be heard for a moment.
