João Ricardo fails Corinthians medical and returns to Fortaleza

Globo.com reports that João Ricardo failed his medical at Corinthians on Monday the second and has already returned to Fortaleza.

He underwent surgery on his right shoulder in October last year and has not featured in 2026. He also missed the run-in to Série A, when Fortaleza were relegated to Série B.

Under Carpini at Fortaleza, he is not expected to be used this year due to his high salary. Brenno is currently first choice.

Talks between Fortaleza and Corinthians were led by Pedro Martins and Marcelo Paz. Midfielder Matheus Pereira moved to the Timão earlier, while Ryan headed to Fortaleza.

With the deal off, Corinthians are likely to seek another goalkeeper in the market. Behind undisputed starter Hugo Souza, the bench options are youngsters Felipe Longo and Kauê, who have yet to establish themselves and have prompted internal doubts at CT Joaquim Grava.
