João Ricardo will not join Corinthians after failing a medical in São Paulo, ending a planned loan until the end of the year. Passing the tests had been a condition of the move.
TNT Sports reports that the goalkeeper failed his medical. Corinthians have not commented on the reasons.
The 37-year-old Fortaleza goalkeeper had long-standing pain in his right shoulder, missing games in 2025. The issue peaked on 27 September when he left a Brasileirão match against Sport, then underwent surgery.
He returned to ball work in mid-February, four months after the operation, as part of his recovery.
Corinthians had agreed the deal in January on a fee-free loan, viewing João Ricardo as experienced cover. The club’s reserve options behind Hugo Souza are largely academy graduates.
At present, Felipe Longo and Kauê train with the first team alongside the number one, and have eight senior appearances between them.
