Strasbourg forward Joaquin Panichelli has suffered a serious right-knee injury while on Argentina duty and will be out for several months.

The Argentine federation announced that he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in that knee after tests on Friday morning in Buenos Aires.

He is expected back in Strasbourg within hours for further examination.

He is Racing's most-used outfield player this season. He has scored 20 goals.

Panichelli currently tops the Ligue 1 scoring chart, ahead of Mason Greenwood of OM.
