Joe Gelhardt’s Leeds United future looks increasingly uncertain, with a permanent Hull City move described as a distinct possibility but not imminent, according to Hull Live.
The forward spent the last 18 months at Hull across two loans, arriving for the second half of 2024/25 then returning for 2025/26. He scored 15 goals and provided four assists as the Tigers finished sixth, reached the play-offs and won 1-0 against Middlesbrough at Wembley.
Gelhardt indicated during 2025/26 he would be open to a permanent move, a stance unlikely to have changed after promotion. Both parties are keen on a longer-term agreement, though early-window progress is not expected.
His 15-goal campaign, despite a two-month injury lay-off, has likely attracted wider interest. Where he ends up remains to be seen.
Back at Elland Road he had no place in Daniel Farke’s attacking unit last season. That group is set to be reinforced, with free agent Harry Wilson expected to arrive in similar positions, so an exit this summer feels more likely than not.
Leeds wanted between £3-4 million for Gelhardt last summer before opting for another Hull loan, when the Tigers were under an embargo preventing transfer fees. That could now prove shrewd for Leeds, with his value likely to have increased.
