The Staggies converted from the spot in the second half to make it 1-1 going into the latter stages of the contest, but in truth it wasn’t deserved as the Hoops had controlled the full game without breaking sweat really.

All that was missing was that second and third goals in the match which would have had us cruising even earlier than expected. Johnny Kenny and Luke McCowan’s introductions from the bench certainly gave us that extra something when attacking the final third and County couldn’t cope with the onslaught when we racked it up a notch.

Don Cowie’s goalkeeper also had a great match which prevented more goals being scored on the day, with one spectacular save from a deflected shot springing to mind.

It showed the strength in depth that Brendan Rodgers has got at his disposal compared to the rest of the league; being able to bring on people like Kenny and McCowan from the bench that would most likely walk into any other team in the Scottish Premiership.

Both men acquitted themselves very well in the time that they were handed by Rodgers and whilst Kenny was unlucky to get on the scoresheet like his comrade McCowan, he played a crucial role in setting him up to tuck it away nicely.

Johan Mjallby was on the most recent episode of The Scottish Football Social Club with Darrell Currie, Michael Stewart and Alan Hutton, and claimed that Celtic proved again that they are still the best team in the country.

Never really getting out of second or third gear, Mjallby praised the manner in which they went about their business and eventually subdued Don Cowie’s men into submission with that late flurry. “Yeah, it looked good enough,” he said.

“They’ve been very efficient. They’re scoring goals in the right moments. Confidence-wise, they’re still there. Even when they don’t perform. Even when they don’t play well, they win quite easily the games. Apart from theRangers game where they deservedly lost. It’s quite nice, isn’t it you know? Because we all talk about this modern game and all about philosophy. All about the ball and playing short passes. Just keep possession.

Johan continued: “If you don’t have the desire, the passion and if you don’t turn up on the day, you won’t win. And that’s always going to be a part of football. And I like that. Thats refreshing. But Celtic, you know, they are by far the best team in the country and they showed it against Ross County again.”
