John Heitinga joins Spurs coaching staff

Tottenham have confirmed John Heitinga has joined their first-team coaching staff as assistant coach.

The 42-year-old returns to the Premier League after a brief and frustrating spell as Ajax manager, which lasted just four months before he was dismissed in November following a string of poor results.

Prior to that, Heitinga served as assistant to Arne Slot at Liverpool during their 2024/25 title-winning campaign.

At Spurs, Heitinga will focus on improving the team’s defensive work, a priority for Thomas Frank as the side have kept just four clean sheets since early November.

The Dutch coach’s experience at the top level is expected to provide a boost as Tottenham look to stabilise their season.
