Aston Villa and Scotland midfielder John McGinn has rubbished the decision to send Auston Trusty off at the weekend. The USA Internationalist was shown a red card after Matthew MacDermid was called to the monitor by his colleague at Clydesdale House to look at the violent conduct.
The Villa skipper chimed in with his views on the matter when talking to the Scottish Football Social Club, claiming that he would expect to have his hands hit away if holding at a corner.
Celtic appealed the decision but they would quickly discover that this failed with the SFA confirming that they had rejected their appeal. This means that Trusty will now miss Celtic’s game against Rangers at Ibrox as well as the trip to Aberdeen then Motherwell’s attendance at Celtic Park.
The central defender will be available to face Rangers in the Scottish Cup when Martin O’Neill’s side travel back to Ibrox a week after the sides meet in the league.
