John Textor confirms he intends to take a step back from the management of Lyon | OneFootball

As reported by L’Équipe yesterday, John Textor is set to take a step back from the day-to-day management of Lyon following their relegation to Ligue 2 after their latest meeting with the DNCG.

The American businessman confirmed this intention in an interview with Brazilian publication Globo. Textor fronted the representation of OL at their latest meeting with the DNCG on Tuesday. Despite sounding positive about the potential outcome following the conclusion of the meeting, the Eagle Football Group CEO was soon brought back down to earth as it was confirmed that Les Gones would be relegated to the second tier of French football due to the poor financial management of the club.

Plans have been drawn up for former Bayern Munich director Michael Gerlinger and billionaire Michelle Kang to take executive control of the club as they prepare to appeal the decision of their relegation to Ligue 2. Textor appears to have admitted defeat when dealing with the financial authorities in French football. Speaking to Globo, he said, “I’m going to dedicate much more time to Botafogo. I have shareholders to handle the issues that, honestly, I haven’t managed very well in France.”
