Johnny Cardoso leaves Betis to join Atletico Madrid

Atlético Madrid have announced the signing of Johnny Cardoso from Real Betis.

The American midfielder joins the Colchoneros on a five-year deal running until the summer of 2030.

While neither club has disclosed the financial details of the move, reports in Spain suggest Atlético have paid around €30 million for the 23-year-old.

Cardoso leaves Betis after two solid seasons, having made 46 appearances last campaign alone, chipping in with four goals and one assist.

The central midfielder, known for his energy and tidy passing, came through the ranks at Internacional in Porto Alegre before making the move to La Liga.
