Jorge Jesus, 71, has been named Saudi league coach of the month for February after a flawless February with Al Nassr. According to Glorioso 1904, the former Benfica manager’s latest honour has again put him in the spotlight in Saudi Arabia.
Backed by compatriots Cristiano Ronaldo and João Félix, whose goal drought is not seen as a concern, Al Nassr won six from six official matches last month. They scored 18 and conceded only one, against Al Fayha.
Jesus previously collected the same award in September. There were further February accolades, with Brazilian goalkeeper Bento recognised as best goalkeeper, while Yannick Carrasco of Al Shabab took player of the month.
Amid escalating Middle East tension following United States and Israeli attacks on Iran, the tie against Al Wasl, coached by Rui Vitória and scheduled for Wednesday in Champions 2, was postponed.
Cristiano Ronaldo underwent tests on Monday, two March due to physical complaints and limited himself to gym work. Jesus is now preparing for the Saudi league fixture against Neom on seven March, a Saturday, with João Félix in his plans.
