Filipe Luís is out of work after Flamengo dismissed him, and his return could be delayed. ESPN Brasil reports that agent Jorge Mendes will urge him to take a break when they meet in the coming days.

The guidance is understood to centre on mental rest, with Filipe having moved straight from retirement as a player into management.

He is also expected to advise against accepting offers from Brazilian clubs, even if they are tempting. The plan sets an expectation that his next role would be in European football.

Filipe was removed in the early hours of Tuesday three March. His spell concluded with a Copa do Brasil, a Carioca, a Libertadores and a Brasileirão. In 2026 he finished runner-up in the Supercopa do Brasil and the Recopa Sul-Americana.

Flamengo have appointed Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim. He began work on Wednesday four March and will be formally presented on Thursday five March at Ninho do Urubu.

His debut is scheduled for Sunday eight March in the Carioca final against Fluminense at the Maracanã, kick-off 18:00 Brasília time.
