Ajax-bound Jorge Sánchez has revealed his dream of reaching the Champions League final with his likely new employers.
The 24-year-old right-back is set to begin life in Amsterdam after the Dutch giants agreed to pay América a reported €6.9m for the Mexico international’s services.
En route to Europe, Sánchez discussed the move with ESPN.
“We want to become champions again,” the Santos Laguna academy product said.
“They have become champions many times and always compete for the prizes. In recent years, they have done well in the Champions League.
“A few years ago they just missed the final. I will do everything I can to reach the Champions League final, win the Eredivisie even more often and write history, as Ajax has often done as a big club.”
Assuming Sánchez passes a medical, he will link up with Alfred Schreuder’s side as a replacement for Noussair Mazraoui.
