Flamengo beat Red Bull Bragantino 2-1 in the 28th round of the 2026 Brasileirão, with Jorginho, Saúl and Varela to the fore.

According to Globo.com, the trio were the standout performers, Varela often high on the right, Jorginho anchoring, and Saúl accelerating play.

Ayrton Lucas lasted four minutes before injury, Alex Sandro coming on. Varela then opened the scoring, finishing after a pass from Carrascal.

Alex Sandro repeatedly pushed on and created danger, and Arrascaeta struck the post from his cross. Carrascal later squandered two clear chances to extend the lead.

Flamengo’s second came from a corner, Arrascaeta delivering, Jorginho glancing on and Pedro finishing.

Bragantino’s goal was a Bruno Henrique own goal, with Luiz Araújo poor defensively in the build-up. Otherwise Rossi was rarely troubled, aside from a first-half effort that hit the woodwork.

Head coach Leonardo Jardim used five in the last line to gain numerical superiority, and set pieces underpinned the victory. The margin did not mirror Flamengo’s overall superiority.
