Jorginho to miss Flamengo v Madureira Carioca semi-final

Jorginho will miss Flamengo’s Campeonato Carioca semi-final against Madureira on Sunday, 22, as he continues to recover from a left thigh muscle injury.

There is a chance the midfielder could be available for the game against Lanús (ARG) on Thursday, 26, according to GE.

He suffered the problem after the 2-0 defeat to Corinthians in the Supercopa Rei. So far this season he has featured in only two of Flamengo’s 12 matches. He is following the recovery plan set by the club’s medical department.

Flamengo are also without Saúl Ñíguez, who is still recovering from ankle surgery. Wallace Yan remains a doubt due to muscle pain.

Flamengo v Madureira kicks off at 20:30, Brasília time, at the Maracanã. This is the first leg of the Campeonato Carioca semi-final.
