La Audiencia Provincial de Madrid has removed Real Madrid’s general director José Ángel Sánchez and Real Madrid Estadio SL from the criminal investigation into concerts at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The club said in a statement that the ruling found that Sánchez and Real Madrid Estadio SL bore no criminal liability in relation to the shows. It added that the court placed responsibility for meeting decibel limits on the promoter companies that stage each event, and dismissed proceedings against both. In its assessment, the club said the development confirms the complaint by Asociación Vecinal de Perjudicados por el Bernabéu and six neighbours against Sánchez and Real Madrid Estadio SL is unfounded and instrumental.
The decision addresses only criminal liability in the proven breaches of Madrid City Council noise rules, and it does not resolve the underlying issue.
The Bernabéu remains effectively unable to host concerts, with all music programming suspended since September 2024 because of the judicial investigation.
The case now continues in the courts with the promoters as defendants. Real Madrid has yet to present the acoustic solutions it has been implementing at the Bernabéu, designed to insulate the stadium interior and minimise noise on surrounding streets.
