José Condessa signs for Benfica’s futsal B team | OneFootball

Actor José Condessa has signed for Benfica’s senior futsal B side, returning to a club he first joined at the age of five.

He came through the Eagles’ set-up and once shared a dressing room with Renato Sanches, Rúben Dias and Ferro. “I always try to balance sport with acting. For three years I played for Nisa, but it is an effort to do 200 kilometres there and another 200 back, which led me to slow down there this year. I cannot leave football, it is part of my life and makes me happy,” he told TV7 Dias.

Condessa’s path in football was interrupted by an Achilles tendon injury, yet he stayed active and, in recent seasons, turned out for hometown side Nisa Futsal Clube.

Now based in Lisbon, he is combining futsal with an increasingly busy acting schedule. He has moved to SIC and will join the cast of the soap Avenida Portugal, alongside projects in Portugal and abroad. “We always need an escape in this profession, which demands so much physically and psychologically. I keep playing, I am just not in Alentejo now. I am playing here in Lisbon.”

His Benfica return is at an early stage. He has started training with the futsal B team but has not yet made an official appearance. “I have started and it has been wonderful.”
