Sevilla’s recruitment team, led by José Ignacio Navarro, are prioritising the retention of Alexis Sánchez and Odysseas Vlachodimos, although finances make both deals complex.

According to ABC de Sevilla, the 32-year-old Greece international wants a LaLiga return with Sevilla if Newcastle United cannot offer him a leading role. He is under contract there until June 2028 after a spend of around €24 million, so a cheap exit is unlikely.

Talks are under way with Alexis Sánchez’s representative to extend his stay at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, with head coach Luis García Plaza fully in favour after the forward’s late-season impact.

Any agreement would require the Chilean to fit strict salary limits and accept a secondary role, likely as an impact option off the bench.

Vlachodimos’ case is trickier. A meeting with Newcastle is imminent and the picture at St James’ Park is uncertain after a goalkeeping reshuffle that includes the arrival of French prospect Ewen Jaouen.

Options for his return include another loan with a delayed buy clause or a permanent deal that could feature preferential options on Sevilla’s young talents to reduce the fee. The keeper is said to be willing privately to adjust his wages to facilitate a move back to Andalucía.

Time is tight. With Ørjan Nyland gone, only academy product Alberto Flores is on the books in goal, so Sevilla cannot wait too long on the Greek or risk losing tracked alternatives such as Diego Conde.
