Jose Mourinho confirms no more Real Madrid signings planned – “I really like the squad” | OneFootball

It has been a busy summer for Real Madrid, with six signings and numerous departures having already taken place. But after missing out on Rodri to Barcelona, it has been reported that an alternative midfielder could be sought at the request of head coach Jose Mourinho, although this is unlikely to be the case with less than two weeks to go until the transfer window closes.

Bernardo Silva, Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Carlos Espi and Yan Diomande have already signed for Real Madrid, but while another addition has been speculated upon in recent weeks, it does not appear that anyone else will come in before the transfer window slams shut at the start of September – that’s according to Mourinho, who told El Chiringuito (via Sport) that he considers his squad complete.

“There is no shortage of players (that he could sign). I’m not saying that there won’t be more signings because the market is open, but if you ask me directly if it’s closed for me… Yes. It is closed. I really like the squad.”

Do Real Madrid need one more signing?

Going into the summer, it was clear that Real Madrid needed several new faces to fix the problems that have been glaring over the last couple of seasons. They have improved their defence with the additions of Cucurella and Konate in particular, while Diomande should be an exciting prospect on the right side of attack. Silva and Dumfries add much-needed experience, although it can be argued that the biggest issue has not been addressed: midfield control.

Since Toni Kroos’ retirement two years ago, Real Madrid have lacked his profile in midfield. Rodri would have been the ideal player to bring in, but with him no longer in the equation, it would be wise to go for an alternative – the only problem is whether the right option would be available, because if not, Mourinho must find an in-house solution.
