José Mourinho green lights Real Madrid’s pursuit of Arsenal star | OneFootball

Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has given his blessing to those in the club’s boardroom to pursue a deal for Arsenal star Martín Zubimendi.

This comes amid an ongoing search for reinforcements to the engine room ranks in Mourinho’s squad.

Real of course recently showed their hand in the club’s pursuit of midfield reinforcements, courtesy of a move for Manchester City standout Rodri. The 30-year-old, however, ultimately made the call to join Los Blancos’ arch rivals, Barcelona.

Florentino Pérez and co. have therefore been left with little choice but to expand their search… And if the latest word stemming from England is anything to go by, then this scouring of the market appears to have led the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu to North London.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, citing TeamTalk, Real Madrid have set their sights on a potential deal for Arsenal star and Spanish international Martín Zubimendi.

Not only that, but ‘Mourinho has given Real Madrid the green light to pursue the signing of Zubimendi this summer.’

The Gunners, it is added, would likely demand a sum in excess of the €65 million which they shelled out to bring the 27-year-old in from Real Sociedad 12 months ago.
