International outlets have picked up José Mourinho’s remarks praising a Benfica player, while Croatian media spotlighted Franjo Ivanovic after his first Benfica brace against Moreirense. Those reports also noted Mourinho’s comments on the 2026 World Cup.

Croatian coverage focused on Ivanovic’s 15 minutes on the pitch. Nogometni Vijesti highlighted his confidence and predatory instinct, and Rijeka Danas said he made the most of a brief but impressive cameo.

After missing Croatia’s March friendlies, Ivanovic’s name has re-entered the conversation for the final 2026 World Cup list, which is due on 18 May.

For any spot, he would still need to see off competition from compatriots Petar Musa, formerly of Benfica, and Igor Matanovic of Freiburg.
