José Mourinho posts Benfica farewell, reserves special thanks for Rui Costa

José Mourinho has posted a farewell message to Benfica as he departs the club to continue his career at Real Madrid.

The message described representing Benfica as both an honour and a privilege, and included appreciation to president Rui Costa for the chance to serve Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

Mourinho also thanked staff and players for their work alongside him, offering sincere wishes for their future personal and professional success, and noting a special bond had formed within the group.

He closed with a line to his squad, stating that anyone who had played for him at Benfica would always be considered his player.
