In the coming weeks, Real Madrid and Vinicius Junior’s representatives will resume talks over a new contract for the Brazilian winger. His current deal ends next summer, and while there remains the belief that an agreement will happen, time is running out for both parties to come together and find a positive resolution.

There have been negotiations between the two parties at various stages over the last 12 months, but none that been successful. The demands set by Vinicius and his camp have been deemed excessive by Real Madrid bosses, who have not been – and are still not – prepared to adhere to the conditions that are on the table.

If no agreement comes this summer, there is a good chance that Vinicius leaves in 2027. That would be a disaster for Jose Mourinho, which is why he has asked Real Madrid to be involved in the contract talks when they resume later this month, as per Sport.

Mourinho sees Vinicius as one of the pillars of his squad, not only for next season but also the years to come. As such, he will look to act as a mediator between the two parties in order to secure the agreement needed to keep the Brazil international at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond the end of his current deal.

Real Madrid are running out of time to renew Vinicius

Although Vinicius has made it clear on numerous occasions that he wants to stay at Real Madrid, he has also shown no signs of relaxing his demands. Furthermore, he will know that the onus is on the club to make a move towards giving in, knowing that it is a bigger blow for them if he were to depart as a free agent.

It remains to be seen how Vinicius’ situation plays out, although there should be more clarity in the coming weeks.
