José Mourinho drew the spotlight again after Benfica’s derby win at Sporting, turning to a broadcast camera with a pointed gesture at the final whistle from referee João Pinheiro.

Sport TV posted footage on social media showing Mourinho first indicating the initials on his shirt, then touching his finger to his head.

There was no formal explanation, and the gesture has been interpreted as a nod to his “Special One” nickname, a possible reminder that he remains a factor in big games.

In his press conference, the 63-year-old was asked about the moment but kept his reply brief, describing it as a reaction to the derby victory. He also discussed the match, the officiating team and Benfica’s situation.

Benfica won at Alvalade through goals from Andreas Schjelderup on 27 minutes and Rafa Silva in the 90+3rd. The result moved them provisionally into second in the Liga Portugal Betclic on 72 points, with Sporting able to reclaim the place as they have a game in hand.
