Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has revealed that he personally rejected the possibility of youngster Endrick departing the club this summer.
Frontman Endrick of course saw his name emerge as a prominent one in the media headlines in Spain’s capital over recent months. Despite impressing during a loan stint in France with Lyon over the 2nd half of last season, the Brazilian international was tipped for a fresh Real Madrid exit.
A whole host of clubs were tipped as potential landing spots for Endrick, who remains held in high regard across Europe and beyond.
In the end, however, the call was made at the Bernabéu for the 20-year-old to stay put for at least the opening half of the new season.
And central in this eventual decision, as alluded to above, was none other than José Mourinho. Drawn on the name of his young goalscorer during an exchange with the media early this week, Real Madrid’s headmaster confirmed:
“I like him a lot. He has had so many and so many contacts from clubs, both for loans and to sell… I didn’t want him to leave because I like the player and working with this young player who has important talents.”
