AFC Wimbledon secured their place in the League Two play-off final with a narrow 1–0 victory over Notts County at Plough Lane on Saturday, 17 May. Josh Neufville’s first-half strike proved decisive, giving the Dons a 2–0 aggregate win and the chance to return to League One at the first attempt.
In a cagey opening, both sides showed early signs of nerves, but it was Wimbledon who gradually grew into the contest. The decisive moment arrived in the 33rd minute when Neufville latched onto a well-weighted through ball and finished confidently past the onrushing goalkeeper.
Notts County pressed for an equaliser after the break but struggled to break down a resolute Wimbledon defence. The Magpies' best chance came late on, but substitute Macaulay Langstaff’s header drifted just wide of the post.
Wimbledon held firm in the closing stages, with a disciplined defensive display ensuring their clean sheet and confirming their place at Wembley.
The Dons will now prepare for the final, where they will face Walsall.
