Manchester United’s summer signings have all hit the ground running, a testament to the good work done by INEOS.

Bringing in Premier League proven stars like Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo is the blueprint for success, but the transfer activity has affected creative players previously signed by the club.

Joshua Zirkzee, who was a regular last season both as a No.9 and attacking midfielder, has failed to start a game in all competitions and has had to make do with cameos off the bench.

This lack of minutes has seen him lose his place in the Netherlands squad, and ahead of the 2026 World Cup, the Dutch forward is keen to change this.

Lack of minutes for Joshua Zirkzee

Even though Ruben Amorim wants him to stay, the 24-year-old is open to jumping ship. There have been reports linking the former Bologna ace with a return to Italy, while Premier League clubs like West Ham are also sniffing around.

However, reputed journalist David Ornstein has now claimed to NBC Sports that there is very little chance the Hammers can sign the Netherlands international during the January transfer window.

“I am told by sources at the club that they (West Ham) are looking to bring in a few new players.

“A forward would surely be on the agenda, but not Ivan Toney. Other players are linked with them: Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee at Manchester United.

“But I think it’s a pretty remote chance [that the Hammers get either of them]. We don’t even know if they will be leaving Old Trafford.”

This information is backed up by what The Peoples Person had relayed earlier today. INEOS have decided to block all January exit routes for both Joshua Zirkzee and Kobbie Mainoo.

With Amad and Bryan Mbeumo set to depart for the African Cup of Nations, the 20-time English league champions cannot afford to fall short of options.

Keeping a versatile attacker like Zirkzee for the remainder of the season will be crucial. His future could lie away from Old Trafford, but for now, he is very much needed.
