Josip Ilicic has posted a farewell to Atalanta on social media.

The 34 year-old midfielder has been released by La Dea this week by mutual consent.

Iicic stated: “It is not easy to find the right words to greet you, a set of emotions and memories I have lived in these five years.

“Five years of joy, happiness and magic, but also pain and difficult moments. Thank you for supporting me and for always being there. Thanks to those who have been close to me, to all the fans, all the people who work inside the club, the coach and the teammates.

“Thank you for the affection you always showed me. Together we have made history, and history will never be forgotten. You will always be in my heart.
