A claim has been made on Carl Rushworth's Coventry City future amid January transfer recall talk from Brighton.
Carl Rushworth joined Coventry City from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer, which is the 24-year-old's sixth loan away from the Seagulls so far.
Having endured a difficult loan spell with Hull City last term, Rushworth has been one of the standout goalkeepers in the Championship so far this term. It's a return to form following a stint with Swansea City where he picked up the club's Player of the Year award in 2023/24.
He has kept eight clean sheets so far with Coventry City, having played all 21 league games. That figure is one more than Stoke City's Viktor Johansson and Bristol City's Radek Vitek. Like Vitek, he is a loanee, however, and that brings about questions concerning a recall in January.

With Frank Lampard's team flying in the league, Rushworth is developing well. It's why Lee Hendrie rates Rushworth very highly, while Don Goodman has tipped Rushworth for England.
Now, TalkSPORT's Alex Crook has revealed the latest on the stopper's situation. He believes that there is no recall clause present in the season-long loan deal with Brighton for the 2025/26 season.
He explains that this was at the insistence of the player and his representative, with both wanting to fulfill a full season with the Sky Blues. Brighton currently have Bart Verbruggen as number-one in the Premier League and Jason Steele has played in three cup games thus far.
However, the likes of Nils Ramming and Tom McGill are also around the first-team, with competition for places evidently a factor for Rushworth wanting to remain with Lampard's side for the full campaign.

Speaking via the York Press, Lampard detailed his thoughts on Rushworth after the Bristol City clash over the weekend. Having made
an outstanding late stop to deny Fally Mayulu from point-blank range, Lampard said: "The save at the end was fantastic.
"He (Rushworth) is showing himself to be a really high-level goalkeeper for us.
"He’s a top keeper, he trains brilliantly, he’s low maintenance, and I think he’s enjoying it here — and I enjoyed him today.”
Per FotMob, Rushworth was handed the Player of the Match award but he also has the best 'goals prevented' figure in the division. His figure of 4.5 with Coventry is 0.9 higher than the Championship's next best goalkeeper.
