Manchester United have identified Andrey Santos as a target as they look to strengthen their midfield according to reports.
Chelsea signed Santos back in January 2023 from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama, and he’s now in the first team fold having spent 18 months on loan at Strasbourg.
The 21-year-old scored ten goals last season as Strasbourg qualified for the Conference League, and he made his long awaited Chelsea debut at the Club World Cup.
Santos faces fierce competition in midfield from the likes of Moises Caciedo, Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia, and it’s arguably Chelsea’s strongest area of the squad.
The midfielder has had to be patient, but Santos scored his first goal against Wolves, and had arguably his best game in a Chelsea shirt.

However, there have been questions over his future and Santos turned down an approach from Saudi side Al-Qadsiah in the summer.
Santos has emerged as a possible target for United, and reporter Peter O’Rourke has provided an update on the situation.
“I would be very surprised if Chelsea would even consider letting Andrey Santos go, especially to a Premier League rival in Man United,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s a top young player, he’s very highly regarded within the corridors of power at Stamford Bridge.
“He had a very good season on loan at Strasbourg and has come back into the Chelsea side this season.
“The problem for Andrey Santos is that he’s got two world-class midfielders ahead of him, in Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez. If they’re both fit, they will start most games.”
Whilst the Brazil international continues to impress Chelsea are also working on rewarding Caicedo’s brilliant form with a new contract.

Caicedo is now represented by his family having switched agents earlier this month, which caused some speculation about his future.
There’s no rush to offer Caicedo a new deal, but it’s believed to be something Chelsea want to do, and talks will reportedly begin soon.
