Journalist says Juventus signed Woltemade for economic reasons | OneFootball

Juventus added Nick Woltemade to their squad in the last transfer window as they looked to replace Jonathan David, who completed a late loan move to Atletico Madrid.

David struggled during his time with the Juve team, and the Bianconeri were more than happy for him to leave the club this summer. That meant they needed to find a replacement, with the German eventually becoming their choice for the role.

Woltemade arrives with expectations

Juve had initially targeted Joshua Zirkzee for the role, but they could not secure the Dutchman and instead moved quickly to add Woltemade to their squad for this season.

Juve hope the German will take their team to a new level, and they consider him a player who can certainly make them better during this campaign. He is expected to receive plenty of opportunities to play as he looks to establish himself with the Bianconeri.

The club is also considering starting Woltemade alongside Randal Kolo Muani and believes they could work well together if both players regularly start matches. However, according to Enzo Bucchioni, the move for Woltemade was also influenced by economic necessity, as the Bianconeri could not afford to spend more on another player.

Bucchioni explains Woltemade move

He tells Tuttojuve:

“Woltemade is a player who has fallen off the radar of the English league and Juve managed to go for such a profile for economic reasons.”

Despite Bucchioni’s comments, Woltemade is still a fine player who cost Newcastle United a lot of money, and he could prove to be a valuable addition for Juventus this season.

The German now has the opportunity to justify the club’s decision to bring him to Turin and demonstrate that he can make a significant contribution. With Juve prepared to give him chances to play, Woltemade will have an opportunity to show that he can help the Bianconeri improve during the campaign.

If he can build a strong partnership with Kolo Muani, Juventus may have another option capable of adding quality to their attack. His performances will ultimately determine whether the move becomes a successful one.
