Fred Caldeira said: "It is very hard to see him staying at Tottenham next season. He just cannot put a physical run together." He was speaking on TNT Sports.

Flamengo are seeking a new centre-forward for Filipe Luís, and Richarlison, currently at Tottenham, is the coach's preferred target. Caldeira added: "Unfortunately, it has not worked at Tottenham. So I imagine the club already view him as a player for whom an interesting offer could be made in the next window."

In January 2026, Flamengo bid for Kaio Jorge but failed to reach a financial agreement with Cruzeiro. They also tried to sign Darwin Núñez from Al Hilal, although the former Liverpool forward does not want to come to Brazil.

In 2025/26, Richarlison has 31 appearances, eight goals and three assists. Since joining in 2022/23, he has 28 goals and 12 assists in 121 games for Tottenham.

His contract runs until June 2027. That timeframe could suit Flamengo, with Tottenham potentially open to raising funds as he nears the final year in mid 2026.

Flamengo host Sampaio Corrêa on Saturday seven in the Campeonato Carioca, kick-off 21:00 Brasília time at the Maracanã. The Rubro-Negro are in a delicate position in the state competition.
