It’s safe to say it’s been a quiet first half-hour of action between last season’s Europa League finalists.
Neither Tottenham Hotspur nor Manchester United have been able to find a breakthrough in North London.
Both sides enter the contest on exactly the same number of wins, draws, and losses, as well as points earned in the opening 10 matches. A stalemate this afternoon would keep them level heading into the international break.

Claiming wins like these against relatively in-form opponents are crucial for Ruben Amorim to prove his men have really turned a corner, especially given Spurs have reigned victorious in their last four meetings with United across all competitions.
Their 1-0 win in Bilbao in May confirmed that they would be playing Champions League football over the Reds, despite Tottenham finishing in 17th place upon the culmination of 2025/2026.
Still awaiting a first shot on target from any player on the pitch, Amorim has been seen growing aggravated on the touchline over United’s uninspired start to the half.
“I wouldn’t say either manager looks calm, but Ruben Amorim is definitely more agitated than Thomas Frank,” said journalist Simon Stone on the BBC Sport’s live commentary page.
“The Tottenham boss is doing more encouraging – and spinning round head in hands when the most recent chance went begging.
“But Amorim is reorganising. I don’t think the Manchester United head coach feels his players are carrying out his game plan effectively.”
The Portuguese coach opted to leave centre-forward Benjamin Sesko on the bench after he struggled to make an impact in the 2-2 draw to Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Instead, Amorim has deployed a front three of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo, the latter of which is enjoying a more advanced role in attack.
