According to AS, the Single Competition Judge dismissed, inside 24 hours, Burgos’s complaint alleging an ineligible appearance by Umar Sadiq in the Copa del Rey.
The ruling backed Valencia and rejected any hint of improper line-up, while also reminding the Burgos president of his responsibility when filing such protests.
In an eight-page decision, the judge said the claimant’s reading had no basis in federation regulations. They added that presuming ineligibility for a licensed player with no impediment runs against a core sporting principle, that matches are decided on the pitch, not in offices.
Carlos Corberán, asked in a press conference about the complaint and the ruling, was forthright, saying he did not understand why Burgos had presented it.
He said that in Spain and in Europe a player is allowed to compete for two teams, and argued the claim lacked consistency.
