Jürgen Klopp appointed Germany head coach after Nagelsmann exit | OneFootball

Jürgen Klopp has been appointed Germany head coach following Julian Nagelsmann’s dismissal, the German Football Association announced this morning.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool manager has signed a deal running until after the 2030 World Cup, and leaves his role as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer.

As part of the arrangement, the DFB will pay €1 million to an RB foundation supporting medical spinal cord research, known as “Wings for Life”.

Klopp’s backroom team will feature Peter Krawietz, Pep Lijnders and Sven Bender, with all four starting on 15 August.

Per Mertesacker will replace Andreas Rettig as the DFB’s Managing Director of Sport, beginning on 1 January 2027.

In the third week of September, Klopp will name his first Germany squad.

His tenure begins in the Nations League against the Netherlands on 24 September in Amsterdam, then Greece visit Augsburg’s WWK Arena three days later for his home debut as Germany’s 13th ever head coach.
