According to L'Équipe, Jul did not make it as an OM footballer, yet he has since forged a powerful bond with the club and sport. He now sponsors his boyhood side and was chosen to light the Olympic cauldron on the Vieux-Port, while his tracks soundtrack athletes and athletes fill his lyrics.
In sliders and socks, cap and tracksuit, OM shirt on his back, he stepped out with a grin, a quick fist bump and a right-footed pass. On 14 January 2023, his 33rd birthday, he took kick-off for Marseille against Lorient to mark D'Or et de Platine (D & P) appearing on the OM shirt.
Six months earlier, he had staged his first concert at the Vélodrome. Four more are scheduled for 2025 and 2026, all sold out within minutes.
A local lad from Saint-Jean-du-Désert in central Marseille, he has both filled the Vélodrome and secured a sleeve spot on the shirt worn by players he has always backed.
The initial half-season sponsorship was valued at €600,000. Subsequent terms are not known.
