Julen Agirrezabala joins Racing Santander from Athletic Club | OneFootball

Racing Santander have signed Athletic Club goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala, strengthening their squad for a return to Primera División.

Racing said in a statement that he has agreed a deal until 30 June 2031 and has played 48 top-flight matches and 13 in the Europa League.

He joins in a permanent transfer. Athletic retain performance-related add-ons, a sell-on percentage and a right of first refusal, and the fee is well below Valencia's €6 million option.

Agirrezabala spent last season on loan at Valencia, making 18 LaLiga appearances and one in the Copa del Rey. An injury sidelined him for the second half of 2024/25, with Stole Dimitrievski taking on greater responsibility.

A Lezama product, he debuted for Athletic against Elche at the Martínez Valero in 2021 and departed in 2025 with 65 official games and a Copa del Rey. Following Jokin Ezkieta's exit, he could become Racing's first-choice while remaining in the top flight. Born in Rentería in 2000, he has eight Spain Under-21 caps.
