Jules Koundé equals Clément Lenglet’s Barcelona record | OneFootball

Jules Koundé (27) reached another milestone for FC Barcelona on Tuesday. The France international made his 160th appearance for the Spanish club, putting him in some exclusive company among French players.

He’s now tied with teammate Clément Lenglet (30) for third in all-time Barça appearances among French players. His versatility has been massive for Hansi Flick’s side, capable of playing in central defence or at right-back.

Koundé arrived at the Camp Nou in 2022. He played the full 90 minutes of their La Liga meeting against Lenglet’s current team, Atlético Madrid, on Tuesday. Barça came away with a 3-1 win, putting them four points clear of Real Madrid, though the latter have a game in hand.

The 2022 World Cup runner-up could be the French record cap holder by the end of this season, given how often he sees the field. Ousmane Dembélé (28) is second on that all-time list with 185 total appearances for them before moving to Paris Saint-Germain.

Éric Abidal, who was on the French squad that finished as World Cup runners-up in 2006, is the all-time leader in that category. The longtime Olympique Lyonnais defender picked up 193 appearances during his time at Barcelona.
