Jules Koundé sustained a left hamstring injury for Barcelona and is likely to miss France’s March camp. The trip includes friendlies in the United States against Brazil and Colombia.

He was forced off after 13 minutes in the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atlético Madrid at Camp Nou, which Barça won 3-0 but lost the tie after a 4-0 first leg. The club said in a statement that he has a left hamstring problem and that the length of his absence will depend on how he progresses.

The 27-year-old former Bordeaux defender has pain in the biceps femoris of his left thigh.

He could be sidelined for several weeks, and he could also miss Barcelona’s Champions League last-16 meetings with Newcastle on 10 and 18 March.

Alejandro Balde, who replaced Koundé against Atlético, also had to come off with a similar left hamstring issue and will be out for four weeks.
