Julian Álvarez isn't saying no to Barça

Julian Álvarez to Barça: things are heating up
The summer transfer window is already shaping up to be red-hot, and Julian Álvarez could well be one of its leading protagonists. After dazzling in Atlético de Madrid's colors, the Argentine striker is now attracting serious interest from FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, two clubs ready to pull out all the stops to sign him. In Spain, his future is becoming a hot topic, especially as contract extension talks continue to drag on.
Having arrived just over a year ago for €75 million from Manchester City, the former River Plate prodigy has quickly established himself as a key figure in Diego Simeone's squad. With 29 goals and 8 assists in his debut season, followed by 9 goals in just 14 games this year, "the Spider" has spun his web across La Liga. But now, his ambitions seem to be reaching beyond the walls of the Wanda Metropolitano.
While he insists he’s focused on Madrid, Julian Álvarez hasn’t completely ruled out a move. In an interview with France Football, he left the door open:
"I see what’s being said on social media… Yes, Paris and Barcelona have shown interest, but for now I’m focused on Atlético. We’ll review everything at the end of the season."
Carefully chosen words, but ones that speak volumes. FC Barcelona dreams of pairing Álvarez with Lamine Yamal as a dynamic duo for the future, while PSG sees him as the ideal successor to Mbappé should he leave. Nothing has been decided yet, but the saga is just beginning... and the summer of 2026 could mark a decisive turning point in the career of the Argentine world champion.
