QPR boss Julien Stephan has played down talk he could leave the club amid interest from France.
QPR are set for a big summer as they look to build on what has been a decent first season under Julien Stephan.
The R’s have had an inconsistent campaign, but they have shown some positive signs, and there will be hope that a productive window could ensure the Londoners are pushing for a top eight finish next season.
However, it appears QPR could have a battle to retain Stephan, as reports from France have suggested the former Rennes chief is on the radar of an unnamed Ligue 1 outfit.
Even though no specific team was mentioned, the chance to return to the top flight of French football may appeal to Stephan, who has a good reputation in his home country due to the work he has done with Rennes and Strasbourg in the past.

But, it’s fair to say that Stephan didn’t entertain any talk of him potentially leaving Loftus Road, as he delivered an emphatic response when asked by West London Sport about his future.
“I am under contract with QPR and focused on QPR and nothing more . Yes (I expect to be here next season), I am under contract and I am only focused on QPR, so no question now.”
Stephan is preparing the R’s for their final game of the season at Ipswich Town on Saturday, as they look to avoid ending the campaign with four successive defeats.
This is a good response from Stephan, as he has shut down the rumours, but we know that doesn’t mean he will definitely stick around, especially if the interest does become serious.
The French league doesn’t finish for another few weeks, so there’s no suggestion any move is imminent, but the speculation could start up again when clubs really ramp up preparations for the 2026/27 season.
Obviously, there’s nothing to indicate Stephan will push to leave, and his comments here prove he is happy at the club, so this will hopefully be the end of the matter.
From QPR’s perspective, they will appreciate Stephan’s reaction here, and they will hope that nothing materialises, as it feels like the Frenchman could be the right man to oversee a long-term project at Loftus Road.

This season was the first step, but it’s clear that they need a strong transfer window to kick-on, and Stephan will have a big role to play in helping identify players who can make QPR a force next season, as finishing in the top eight will be the aim.
With QPR having known for some time that they were highly unlikely to make the play-offs, or get dragged into the relegation battle, they should be ready to make their mark in the summer, and discussions will have been ongoing in the background about who they need to keep, and the sort of profile that they need to add to the group.
So, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out, but Stephan’s immediate concern will be trying to get a result against an Ipswich team that could be fighting to win automatic promotion this weekend.
