Julio Díaz to sign until 2030 as ‘Cholo’ Simeone keeps buy-back option | OneFootball

Julio Díaz is in Seville to finalise his move to Sevilla, will undergo a medical today and sign until June 2030. The club’s fifth summer addition is expected to be confirmed within hours.

According to Zona Mixta, Sevilla will pay one and a half million euros for 50% of his rights. Atlético de Madrid have retained a buy-back clause set at two million euros, exercisable only in the first two seasons of his Sevilla deal. The left-sided under-20 international would add versatility on that flank.

Those terms mirror the package first discussed with Levante, who had looked close to landing Díaz. Sevilla stepped in before Atlético and Levante tied up the final details, and the pull of Nervión swayed the youngster. He is due to travel with his new team-mates to the Netherlands for the pre-season camp.

The move continues Sevilla’s 2026-2027 rebuild after the arrivals of Jon Guridi, Juan Iglesias, Arouna Sangante and Odysseas Vlachodimos. The next priority could be another goalkeeper, with Real Madrid academy prospect Fran González under consideration. Work continues on a competitive squad, while a new centre-forward is still outstanding.

Díaz addresses the need to double up on the left, where only Gabriel Suazo is assured to stay. Adrià Pedrosa is out following his loan at Elche, and Oso’s future hinges on a possible renewal amid overseas interest. The ex-Atlético prospect strengthens the balance on that side and offers cover for the coming weeks.
