According to transfer specialist Nicolo Schira, it has emerged that Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso is ‘very tempted’ by the possibility of joining Barcelona and would be open to discussing a move should the Catalan club decide to intensify their interest.

The development comes at a time when Barcelona continue evaluating several options for the full-back positions, with the club determined to strengthen an area that has raised questions throughout the past season.

Schira reports that Cambiaso is attracted by the prospect of playing for Barcelona and has already opened the door to a potential departure from Juventus during the summer transfer window.

A versatile option to have

As reported before, the Italian defender is understood to be one of several names being analysed by the Blaugrana hierarchy as they continue assessing how to improve the squad ahead of the next campaign.

Barcelona’s interest is hardly surprising given Cambiaso’s versatility, as the 26-year-old can operate on both flanks, offering flexibility that would be valuable in a squad expected to compete on multiple fronts.

Last season, the Italian featured in 47 matches for Juventus across all competitions. 

During that time, he contributed three goals and five assists while continuing to establish himself as one of the most reliable full-backs in Serie A.

However, as expected, securing his signature will not be straightforward.

Why is that?

This is because, according to the journalist, Juventus are demanding at least €30 million to consider a sale. 

With Cambiaso tied to a contract until 2029, the Turin-based club remain in a strong negotiating position and are under no pressure to lower their valuation.

At the same time, Chelsea are also said to be monitoring the situation closely, although Schira suggests Barcelona currently hold an advantage in the race.

It must be noted that Barcelona’s interest in Cambiaso is linked to uncertainty surrounding the defensive structure heading into next season.

While Alejandro Balde remains an important player for the club, his campaign was marked by inconsistency, prompting internal discussions regarding additional competition for the left-back role.

At the same time, the situation surrounding Joao Cancelo has become increasingly complicated. 

That is why Barcelona are looking for new options and Cambiaso appears to be on their agenda.
