United can capitalise on external Rashford interest while Barcelona drag their heels

Rashford’s priority is to stay with Barcelona long-term, having enjoyed a new lease of life over in Catalonia.

However, the ball is in their court to meet the Red Devils’ demands, which were firmly outlined all the way back in July 2025 when he made the switch.

INEOS already plotting swoop for Rashford replacement in form of Rafael Leao

Mail’s report adds that Rashford’s prospective sale would then pave the way for United to firm up their interest in Rafael Leao.

INEOS are keen to strengthen the position anyway, but even more so when Rashford’s exit becomes permanent.

They have identified Leao, 26, as a proven option who might not break the bank in comparison to other targets around his age, with AC Milan expected to demand in the region of £50-60m to facilitate the Portugal international’s departure.
