Earlier in January, Marcus Rashford was one of the names linked with a move to Barcelona as the club wanted to bring in reinforcements in the attacking unit.

However, after weeks of speculation, the move did not materialise, with Rashford settling for a move to Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season.

But with his spell at Villa Park soon coming to an end, Rashford is once again looking for pastures new, with Barcelona emerging as a potential destination yet again.

Recent reports suggest Rashford has offered himself to Barcelona through superagent Pini Zahavi, who also represents Barcelona’s star striker Robert Lewandowski.

Hansi Flick is fond of Rashford

Although Rashford is keen on a move to Barcelona, it remains unclear whether or not the Catalans are interested in the forward anymore.

To that end, journalist Fernando Polo, who broke the story earlier in the day, has offered some clarification, claiming that Hansi Flick is indeed fond of the Manchester United star.

Polo points to January interest from Barcelona, suggesting that Flick might have already given the Catalans the green light to sign the Englishman at that time.

Rashford, for his part, is determined to join Barcelona in the coming summer, knowing the club are on the lookout for a new winger.

That is why the Englishman has brought in Zahavi to the table, knowing the agent has an excellent relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

Zahavi has already informed Barcelona that he can bring in Rashford next summer, meaning the ball is in Barça’s court now.

The Catalans were unable to sign Rashford in January because of Financial Fair Play reasons. Those woes could come back to haunt Barça once again in the summer, if the club continue to struggle in lowering the wage bill.

Hence, it will be interesting to see how the Rashford saga pans out in the coming weeks.
