Manchester United will reportedly look to make amends for their summer mistakes by bolstering their defence in January.
According to Football Insider, Red Devils chiefs have decided that new defenders are imperative in the winter if Michael Carrick is to have any chance of succeeding.

From fans’ perspective, they’ll rightfully say that hindsight is a wonderful thing.
It was clear as day throughout the summer window that not signing a full-back would end up having detrimental repercussions as soon as fixtures started across all competitions.
Shortly after the transfer period ended, Luke Shaw sustained an injury that kept him out of three matches, including the Manchester derby, while Patrick Dorgu, who’s first in line to deputise at left-back when Shaw is unavailable, missed United’s Carabao Cup tie with Brighton and Hove Albion.
To make matters worse for Carrick, Dorgu sustained a non-contact injury while in action for Denmark over the weekend, which led to him having to exit the camp and return to Carrington to undergo assessments.

It remains to be seen which target/s INEOS will be looking to bring in, especially now that priority full-back signing Lewis Hall has committed his long-term future to Newcastle United.
The Reds had also been tentatively linked with a new centre-forward to provide cover for Benjamin Sesko, but reporter Pete O’Rourke has sought to squash those rumours.
“For United right now, a new striker is not a top priority. [The priority is] probably rebuilding the defence, as obviously they have done the forward line and midfield in the last two summers,” he said.
“Going forward, United are looking to improve and restructure that defence, which will be the next stage of their process of rebuilding the squad.”
