Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Myles Lewis-Skelly from Arsenal this week.

According to Alex Crook, the Red Devils and Chelsea are among a handful of Premier League sides to have been approached by the Gunners.

Arsenal have opened the door to a potential sale of their academy graduate after shelling out a whopping £75 million on Bruno Guimaraes.

It remains to be seen what kind of fee they would expect for Lewis-Skelly, with Transfermarkt valuing the 19-year-old in the region of £38.5 million.

Although he played a more prominent role towards the end of the North London outfit’s title-winning campaign, the youngster was limited to only 15 appearances in the league last term, only five of which were as a starter.

Lewis-Skelly accumulated 698 minutes on the pitch in total, and finished the term with a 92 per cent pass accuracy rate and 80 per cent dribble completion rate.

Throughout Arsenal’s journey to the Champions League final, where they were eventually defeated by reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain on penalties, the full-back made 10 appearances and averaged a rating of 7.14 on Fotmob.

He struggled to nail down a starting spot due to the form of Riccardo Calafiori, as well as the addition of Bayer Leverkusen loanee Piero Hincapie last summer.

While Mikel Arteta would undoubtedly rather keep hold of the prospect, whom Declan Rice hailed as a ‘special’ talent, there will be an acceptance that Lewis-Skelly is good enough and ready to feature week in and week out for a top club, and he’s unlikely to do so at the Emirates.

United have been credited with interest in him over the last year, but their prioritisation of the midfield means a deal may prove too costly for them at this stage of the transfer window.
