Just when it seemed like things were easing up for Real Madrid on the fitness front, it appears like they will be without an important player for the trip to Girona tomorrow.
As reported on Friday, the Merengues appear set to recover Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, Franco Mastantuono, and Thibaut Courtois for the game against the Catalan club, although Dean Huijsen is unlikely to make it.
But the latest update from the club’s final training session brings a disappointing update.
According to journalist Alberto Pereiro, Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio is not training with the rest of the squad today before the game against Girona.
The academy graduate’s absence, as per the journalist, is because he is suffering from gastroenteritis – the same issue that led to Thibaut Courtois missing the midweek game against Olympiaos.

After a slow start to the season, Asencio had grown in importance in recent weeks, with the defensive department hampered by endless injuries.
The La Fabrica graduate had put together a consistent run of performances, taking up greater responsibility in the absence of players like Dean Huijsen and Eder Militao.
However, it appears like the Spanish defender will now miss Sunday night’s clash against Girona after not participating in training today due to gastroenterities.
Apart from Asencio, the likes of Huijsen, Dani Carvajal, and David Alaba also did not train and will miss the trip to Girona.
However, Rudiger and Militao did train normally, and could be called up to the squad for the trip to Estadi Montilivi.
