Injuries played a key role in stifling Real Madrid’s progress last season and heading into the summer, the club had hoped the situation won’t repeat this time around.
But much to Real Madrid’s misfortune, it appears the club have been dealt with yet another injury blow in midfield.
According to The Athletic, Eduardo Camavinga has sustained the ankle injury he had picked up during the backend of last season.
It must be noted that the midfielder has already missed multiple training sessions, including one on Sunday morning.
The Frenchman is now a major doubt for the team’s last pre-season friendly against Austrian side Tirol on Tuesday, and his availability for the La Liga opener against Osasuna on August 19 remains uncertain.
The exact scale of the ankle problem is still unclear, though such injuries typically require several weeks for a full recovery.

This is particularly worrying for Camavinga, who endured a frustrating, injury-hit 2024/25 campaign.
Camavinga’s latest blow is a continuation of Real Madrid’s struggles in the midfield department heading into the new season.
Earlier in the summer, it was revealed that Jude Bellingham may not come back until October owing to surgery.
Now, with Camavinga also struggling to recover from his ankle problem, Real Madrid are set to approach the season opener without two of their trusted options in the middle of the park.
This will force Alonso to improve and perhaps even rely on younger players to provide the goods, especially considering the fact that Real Madrid do not have the services of Luka Modric anymore.
