Juventus agree deal to sign Newcastle flop Nick Woltemade on loan | OneFootball

Newcastle United forward Nick Woltemade is reportedly leaving the club, one year after joining for around £69 million.

According to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, the Magpies have agreed to loan him to Juventus for the season. They will pay £3.5 million, with no option or obligation to buy.

Newcastle have Yoane Wissa, who looks back to his best after a 2025/26 campaign riddled with injuries. He has sparkled in his first two league appearances.

They also have William Osula. New signing Matias Fernandez-Pardo can also play as a striker.

The German international bagged just eight goals and three assists in 33 appearances in his first season.

He lost his confidence, and things went from bad to worse when he was dropped or played in midfield.

A move to Italy allows the Newcastle star to restart, and perhaps he can enjoy a new lease of life in Turin.

Newcastle made a massive mistake with Woltemade

Newcastle should never have sanctioned the £69m move for Woltemade in the first place.

He had not shown enough to justify such a huge outlay. There were serious questions over whether his game would translate to the Premier League.

For a player of his size, Woltemade does not attack the box aggressively enough, rarely dominates aerial duels.

He is arguably at his best when operating outside the penalty area.

Those are significant concerns for a striker costing Newcastle that kind of money.

The Magpies appear not to have thought the signing through properly, and are left hoping a season in Italy can revive his value.

Unless Woltemade tears it up in Serie A, Newcastle could struggle to recoup their massive investment.
